PT 1: The next interview series on the podcast features Heather Payne, a parent and the CEO of Juno College, formerly HackerYou.

Heather founded Ladies Learning Code in 2011, since re-branded to Canada Learning Code with offerings for all ages, and has been named one of Canada’s Top 100 Most Powerful Women in the Trendsetters & Trailblazers category, as well as one of the Globe and Mail’s Top 12 Canadian “Innovators at Work”.

This is the first of three mini episodes of our conversation, which took place in December. Stay tuned for future episodes where we talk about all things parenthood, disrupting the tertiary education sector and the need for access to affordable childcare.

THINGS WE TALK ABOUT:

  • How her work and home routines have evolved over the past year
  • Relocating the family at the start of the pandemic
  • Working alongside her partner in a separate space
  • Moving her company from in-person classes to online offerings
  • The importance of asking for user feedback when making changes
  • Communicating with investors during the pandemic
  • Introducing an Income Share Agreement (ISA) model for tuition
  • Dealing with naysayers when providing an innovative solution

Thanks to Heather for speaking with us about parenthood and adapting her business during the pandemic!
