Show Notes

PT 1: Rashmi Sirdeshpande is a mom of two and a lawyer turned children's author who loves taking big ideas and making them accessible and exciting for young readers. Her books have been recognized by BookTrust, listed in The Times/Sunday Times Best Children’s Books of the Year and she is a World Book Day author.

This is the first of three mini episodes of our conversation, which took place in October.

THINGS WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Converting her home writing space into a homeschool room and YouTube studio
  • Writing in the margins of her day and practicing time blocking
  • Deciding to leave her law career to go to business school in search of more flexibility
  • Setting up a business with a friend, while having a baby and then deciding to close it down
  • How her children reintroduced her to her love of writing and books
  • Entering an online competition with Penguin Random House and the chain of events it set off

Thanks to Rashmi for taking part of her day to answer my questions about her writing workflow, entering into entrepreneurship and how she has set her life up to prioritize flexibility!

Season 3 has been sponsored by the Startup Community Empowerment Fund, presented by Startup Canada, Mastercard Canada, Sovereign Insurance and UPS Canada.
