Mixing Babies And Business™

067 | Parenting while coaching career changers and facilitating leadership programs with Lissa Appiah | PT 1

Season 5 Episode 67

PT 1: Lissa Appiah is the founder and CEO of WeApply Career Services, a certified career and resume strategist and parent of one kid. To date, she’s helped over one thousand professionals articulate their value and own their careers, was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Black Women to Watch in 2022 and received the Black Moms Connection Village Award at the Total Mom Pitch in 2023.

This is the first of three mini episodes of our conversation. In this interview, we talk about how she splits the school day shift, setting boundaries and the importance of quantifying your achievements.

THINGS WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Using the past few years as an opportunity to pause and reflect on how she wants to be as a parent and professional
  • Reinforcing clear work boundaries around family time, how she’s currently splitting the school day shift with her husband and adjusting her schedule to accommodate her son’s activities
  • Lissa’s approach to batching her content and showing up as a parent with a young kid
  • The importance of quantifying your achievements and how she encourages her clients to practice it
  • When your employer isn’t accommodating of your changing needs as a parent and professional

Thanks to Lissa for taking time out of her day to speak with me about being intentional, her routines right now and how she creates content around her school age son’s schedule.

Season 5 has been sponsored by the Startup Women Fund, presented by Startup Canada, Scotiabank and UPS.
